A European label for our sustainable home loans

Sustainability is in our DNA. The European EEM label, which we were the first to use in Belgium, is further proof of this commitment. It guarantees that the mortgages that benefit from it are used for ecological purposes, which is good for both the environment and our customers. Here's how it works.

Like our customers, we put sustainability at the heart of our concerns. That's why BNP Paribas Fortis was the first Belgian bank to collaborate with the independent Energy Efficient Mortgage Label foundation. The foundation's label validates the ecological purpose of the green home loans we grant, which come with an advantageous interest rate.

Towards a greener and more transparent portfolio

The label can be applied to loans for new constructions and purchases of homes with an energy label A, as well as renovations that improve the energy efficiency of the home by at least 30%.

"Partnering with a completely independent organisation that is based on strict European standards was a no-brainer for us," explains Elisabeth Minjauw, Programme Director for Legal Mandatory Credits and President of the European Mortgage Federation. "We're playing the transparency card and confirming our commitments to society."
