Professional liability insurance for medical and allied health professionals is a Belgian-law policy from AG SA, distributed by BNP Paribas Fortis SA.
The policy is valid for 1 year, at the end of which it will be renewed by tacit agreement for the same period, except where it is cancelled at least three months before the renewal date.
As a doctor, physiotherapist, dentist, podiatrist, beautician or tattoo artist, you work in the medical or allied health sector.
It’s essential to ensure that you cover your professional liability, because if you cause damage to a third party and you’re liable – if you make a mistake with a treatment or diagnosis for example – you will have to compensate the victim. The bill can quickly become very large, putting your business at risk.
Comprehensive insurance for healthcare professionals
Large sums insured and a very broad range of situations covered, including after you stop working: your professional liability is in good hands!
Large insured sums
The sums insured are suited to the risk level of your profession, up to:
A broad range of risks covered
A mistake, delayed diagnosis, poorly executed treatment... Professional liability insurance covers any damage you may cause. You also get from operational liability, property in care, custody and control, and post-completion liability cover.
Claims occurring
Has your insurance policy ended because you’ve stopped working? Damage arising after the end of your policy is also covered, free of charge, on a claims occurring basis.
A requirement for practitioners
If you’re a doctor, the Belgian Order of Physicians requires you to have professional liability insurance in order to practise. Our policy allows you to meet this professional obligation.
A delayed diagnosis of melanoma, burns caused during a permanent hair removal treatment, a foot infection after treatment... If you’ve made a mistake, our professional liability insurance will compensate your patients or clients on your behalf.
A patient's dental prosthesis is damaged, a hearing aid is broken after being entrusted to you for adjustment... In cases such as these, cover for property in care, custody and control will reimburse your patient or client for the repair costs.
You provide nursing care at a patient's home. When turning around, you knock over a valuable vase. Operational liability insurance will cover this damage.
You deliver a product as part of your medical or allied health activities. If the product causes damage to your client after delivery, post-completion cover may compensate for the damage suffered.
General practitioners, specialists, paediatricians, cardiologists, physiotherapists, psychiatrists, veterinarians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, podiatrists, nutritionists, beauticians, tattoo artists and more besides.
