The financial protection cover is an optional add-on to your building and contents fire insurance policy. This is a Belgian-law insurance policy from AG SA, distributed by BNP Paribas Fortis SA.
This optional add-on is valid for the same period as the main fire insurance policy, i.e. for 1 year, at the end of which it will be renewed by tacit agreement for the same period, except where it is cancelled at least three months before the renewal date. For a policy taken out or renewed by tacit agreement on or after 1 October 2024, you have until two months before the renewal date to cancel it.
Imagine a fire breaking out in your commercial building or offices. Your business comes to a halt or is disrupted, which will have a negative impact on your income.
How will you compensate for these financial losses? You need to ensure the continuity of your business, which already has to deal with the other consequences of the disaster.
Fortunately, this optional add-on to your building and contents insurance policy covers this risk by compensating for your loss of earnings.

Annual or daily income
Do you want a formula based on your annual turnover or on an estimate of your daily income? You decide how to calculate the financial loss, and therefore your compensation.
Tailored cover
Your cover adapts to the situation you’re facing and the consequences of the disaster, including the duration of cover for your potential financial losses.
What if the damage happens elsewhere?
Has a disaster occurred in a neighbouring building, making it impossible to access your business? We can also cover you for this.
Based on your current income
Is the estimate of the financial loss based on your turnover from last year? If so, your policy will also take into account any increase in your income compared to the last declared amount.
Damage related to the decrease in your turnover resulting from a disaster covered by your business building and contents fire insurance policy. The loss covered, for example following a storm or water damage, must be explicitly mentioned in the specific terms and conditions of the agreement applicable to this financial protection cover.
Damage resulting from the decrease in your turnover linked to a disaster in your neighbourhood making it totally or partially impossible to access your building.
Damage caused by theft or attempted theft, and damage resulting from material damage to computer equipment.
Your financial losses if you decide not to resume your business activity, unless the discontinuation of your business is beyond your control.
