Deposit protection

Under Belgian law, all funds held in accounts (current accounts, term deposits, and savings accounts) with BNP Paribas Fortis, as well as savings certificates (subject to certain conditions – see the information brochure), are protected up to €100,000 per depositor (individuals and legal entities, except for certain categories of depositors, such as credit institutions, financial institutions, insurance companies, etc.). This maximum coverage of €100,000 applies to all deposits, regardless of currency, made with the bank's different brands (BNP Paribas Fortis, Fintro, and Hello bank!).

Additionally, financial instruments – other than savings certificates – held with BNP Paribas Fortis are covered by a separate protection scheme up to €20,000, regardless of the currency in which the financial instruments are denominated. This protection applies to both individuals and legal entities, with certain exceptions (notably large companies and investors engaged in banking or financial activities).
