Objective liability insurance for fire and explosions is a Belgian civil liability insurance policy from AG SA, distributed by BNP Paribas Fortis SA.
It is a one-year contract with tacit renewal for the same period, unless terminated at least 3 months before the main expiry date. For contracts taken out or tacitly renewed from 1 October 2024, you have until 2 months before the expiry date to terminate them.
As a restaurant, cafe, or other public establishment owner, you're at risk in the event of a fire or explosion. Even if you're not responsible for the incident, you're still liable for compensating victims.

Physical injury and material damage
Objective liability insurance for fire and explosion covers both physical injury and material damage to victims.
It's an application of the principle of civil liability without fault. The victim can request and obtain full compensation for their damage without having to prove fault on your part.
Restaurants or cafes over 50m², sports halls, rest homes, shops over 1,000m²... These establishments are legally required to insure their objective liability in the event of a fire or explosion.
Your objective civil liability: In the event of a fire or explosion, your liability is automatically engaged, even without fault on your part.
Rescue costs, civil action costs, lawyers' fees, and experts' fees
Physical injury to victims, up to €23,105,725.44 indexed* per claim
Material damage to victims, up to approximately €1,155,286.27 indexed* per claim
Damage caused intentionally by you
Liability related to a serious fault on your part, and more specifically serious infringement of laws, regulations, and customs specific to your business activities
Material damage already covered by a tenant's, occupant's, or third-party liability insurance
