Where is Payconiq by Bancontact available?

Pay easily online, in apps and in shops, and make transfers to friends

  • Online: click on the Bancontact or Payconiq logo on the payment page
  • In shops: scan the QR code at the checkout, on the payment terminal, or pay via the list of shops on your smartphone
  • Transfers to friends: to pay, scan the QR code or click on "Contacts" in the app; to receive payment, click on "Receive"

App features

Discover some of the features you can access when you link your debit card to the app.

Purchases, bills and friends

You can pay by scanning the QR code at the bakery, on your electricity bill or on a friend's smartphone.

Loyalty cards

Register your loyalty cards in the app and you'll find them more easily when you need them. You can even add them to your home screen via widgets.

Pay with meal vouchers

Do you use meal vouchers to pay in supermarkets, restaurants or online? Good news: you can also use them via your Payconiq by Bancontact app!

Buy your ticket

You can buy SNCB train tickets and STIB bus, tram and metro tickets directly via your app. It's quick, easy and secure.

Create a kitty

Click on "Receive", then "Create a kitty", and send a payment invitation via text message, WhatsApp, or email to up to 30 people. It’s the easy way to organise a birthday or farewell gift.

Support a good cause

Via the "Scan For Change" service in the app, you can make a donation of €2 to a range of charities supporting causes such as health, children and nature. Small donations can make a big difference!

Make the most of your app

By linking your current account to the app, you benefit from additional features. You no longer need to scan a QR code and can easily:

  • Reimburse friends directly via the app's contact list: select the contact, enter the amount and it's done
  • Pay for purchases in shops: search for the shop in the app's list, enter the amount and pay
  • Split a bill with friends, even after you've left the restaurant: split the amount in the app and send your friends a payment request via text message, WhatsApp or email

Usage limits

Limits apply per payment and per card. These amounts vary depending on the type of QR code you scan with the app.

If you make a payment by scanning a QR code with the Bancontact logo or via the Bancontact payment button, between friends or on a merchant's website or app:

  • €1,500 per payment to a merchant and €250 per payment to friends (confirmed with PIN, fingerprint or facial recognition)
  • €2,500 per day and per card registered in the app (€250 to friends), and €500 if you receive a payment

If you make a payment by scanning a QR code with the Payconiq logo or via the Payconiq payment button on a merchant's website or app, your debit card limit applies:

  • in general, we authorise payments up to €2,500 per week
  • for people under 18 the limit is €250 per week

Install the app

Download the app, create an account and choose the PIN you will use to confirm your payments.

Link cards and current accounts

In "Payment methods", link your debit card(s) and confirm using a card reader. Link your current account to benefit from more features.

Confirm and you're done

You receive a confirmation email. Click on the link: your app is then activated and ready to use.

Security, loss, theft and other problems

Lost or stolen smartphone? Technical problem?

All the data in your app is secured with a PIN. Your personal data is saved on secure servers, not in the app. It is not communicated to third parties. If your smartphone is lost or stolen, call the Easy Banking Centre on 02 762 90 00. You can also contact Card Stop on 078 170 170 to block your app. After this is done, the app can no longer be used, even with your PIN. If you have a technical problem or the app is unavailable, contact Payconiq:

For the use of the Payconiq by Bancontact app with your Bancontact card, the service is provided by Bancontact Payconiq Company, registered office rue d'Arlon 82, 1040 Brussels, registered under number 0675 984 882 – RPM Brussels.
